Shortening the Learning Curve thru Steadfastness, Consistency and Perseverance for Site 2
01/21/17 — Shortening the Learning Curve thru Steadfastness, Consistency and Perseverance for Site 2
Wow, it’s amazing how quickly time flies by between write-ups. I’ve been a bit more committed, part of the steadfastness and consistency aspect in the title of this post.
I have implemented Yoast for the 2nd website. Additionally, I’ve begun the process of signing up with Optionshouse. I have about 3 more things to do before I’ll have the entire package submitted to them. I’ve also continually made updates to site 1 and have, if not mastered Tablepress, then certainly tamed it a bit. I’m importing my tables since I’m so comfortable developing them in Excel. That leaves applying pretty standard formatting to the tables and playing around with the font size in Tablepress so that it fits on the page. This is the part of WordPress that is not really appreciated. And I’m not making that statement from a purely positive angle, I meant the learning curve aspect where initially hours, days or weeks can be spent attempting to do the ‘simple and mundane’. I’ve watched a number of online videos that help but it takes time spent in the program to work thru the learning curve. As a part of my second site, I will at least recommend useful plugins I’ve come across and think should be installed for a new individual’s first site to help reduce their learning curve.
I’m still listening to podcasts and have sort of rounded out and expanded my listening portfolio to capture additional perspectives. As far as financing, on a ‘net’ basis I will have made about 6x as much this month as I did in December on site 1. I truly believe site 2 has a great opportunity for producing a decent income stream. We shall see. My go live target is basically any day now. I need to put in about 3 more days worth of work and then let it go. However, I think initial content wise it’s ready to go but I want to get the SEO down before I hit the release button. And I want the Site to be income capable from day 1. I’m pretty stoked about site 2.
Again the sum of it is as it has been for a while now, you have to take a step and do something. If only to get some feedback for improvement and experience and shortening of the learning curve for future projects. You will stumble across opportunities if you break thru your inertia and begin to move.
